Arrived here yesterday morning on a long and adventurous ride from Dharamshala, first to Jammu, then to Srinagar. My first day began with seeing how handmade Kashmiri carpets are made. After the previous night's long car ride, I decided to take a nice walk at the botanical garden where I took in the lush greenery. The rest of the afternoon was spent walking along Dal Lake and passing through bustling markets on the way back to the houseboat where I stayed for the night.
This morning started today at 4am to the sounds of prayer, as the population here is predominantly Muslim. Later in the afternoon, I packed my bags and left in search of a friend who I had met in Delhi. I was instructed to call when I had arrived but had learned that my sim card would no longer work here. So I just walked in hope that everything would just work out and after some walking, I hear someone calling out my name which, of course, was my friend! We were both so surprised and happy to see eachother and I'm now staying at his place with his family.
